My first project for Minerva Crafts & a little update

I’m super excited to share with you my first guest blog post for Minerva Crafts! I chose to make the Dita dress by Wear Lemonade using this beautiful John Kaldor crepe fabric, a fabric that Minerva Crafts provided to me in order to write this blog post. Read all the details about this sewing project and find lots of photos here.

My project went live on Minerva Crafts Network last February but due to a serious health issue (a bad eye infection) that I went through and still do, I never managed to share this collaboration on my blog since today.

Unfortunately, this eye infection is related to the use of eye contacts. The therapy is going to last about a year according to the doctor with lots of eye drops and lots of doctor appointments. The first days I had to put on eye drops every half an hour during the day AND night for three days! That was exhausting! After that, I used to put eye drops almost all the time. Needless to say,  I couldn’t do anything.  I had a lot of pain, I couldn’t stand any type of lightning and my vision was blurred (it is still blurred partly but it will get better according to the doctor). Obviously, I could say that using eye contacts isn’t always safe. I used to put on eye contacts for at least 12 years and I didn’t have any problem using them until now. I wish I had been through a surgery to reduce my myopia sooner so I could have avoided all this.

Thankfully, I’m feeling a lot better now. I continue putting the eye drops a lot of times during the day but the good thing is that the symptoms have been minimized. For now on I’m going to wear glasses on and I wish that in a few years doctor will give me the OK to do the laser eye surgery and get rid of my myopia and my glasses!

So, after two and a half months dealing with this, I’m more than ready to get back and start making beautiful garments again!

Until next time,

Happy Sewing!!
